Even though the dangers of smoking are well documented, 5.8 million Canadians considered themselves “Smokers” in 2011. Smoking increases your chance of heart disease, lung disease and many different types of cancer. According to the Canadian Lung Association, lung cancer was among the leading causes of cancer death for both men and women in 2013. Smoking also damages your eyes, oral health, immune system and can lead to osteoporosis. So why do people still smoke? It is an addiction.
